WHO/WHAT I AM IN CHRIST
Prayer is often defined as communication between God and people.  It isn't meditation or passive reflection but it's you speaking directly to the heavenly Father about the concerns of your heart.  Philippians 4:6 says,

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God."

We are encouraged to always pray and not faint (give up, lose heart). God's word is magnified above His name (Psalm 138:2) and He remains faithful to what is written.  As you pray, seek to receive the heart of God concerning your specific situation and learn to pray using the correlating scriptures that reveals God's will.

"And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him." (1 John 14-15)

Prayer isn't just us presenting our requests to God but also positioning our hearts to receive direction from God. Locating the covenant promises under grace and confessing them is also necessary for the warfare that persists in our minds. Confessing the Word of God is helpful in developing the appropriate mindset, building our faith, and obtaining the peace needed as Kingdom people.

EVERY PROMISE HAS A PREMISE

“Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” (Matthew 6:33)

Let’s be honest here. Have you ever found yourself in need of “things” and they didn’t seem to be showing up like you felt you needed? You believe Jesus was telling the truth about “all these things being added to you”, but yet they don’t seem to be in your possession?

Seeing as how it’s impossible for God to lie (Hebrews 6:18), what else could be going on here?

May I suggest we look at the
PREMISE before we claim the PROMISE?

What does it mean to “seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness”? How do you personally go about seeking first His Kingdom and righteousness? What does that look like in practical terms? I dare say, most folks haven’t given that much thought.

THE PREMISE...

SEEK (with the intention of finding, by means of thinking, meditating, reasoning and enquiring, with an intensity born out of a developed craving that demands from you, a result)

FIRST (Make this act of seeking, your first priority with respect to your time, who or what you give honor to, even how you use your influence, including the deliberate and purposeful directing of your thoughts and desires.)

THE KINGDOM OF GOD (The king’s domain... the place of His rule, authority and dominion, principally and specifically in your life which He purchased with His blood, and your body which is His temple where His Spirit dwells.)

AND HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS (His integrity, virtue, purity of life, and correct way of thinking, feeling and acting.)

THE PROMISE...

AND ALL (nothing missing, nothing lacking, complete in every way)

THESE THINGS (whatever you need for life, down to the last detail including what you eat and drink, even the very clothes you wear)

WILL BE ADDED TO YOU (joined to you, laid beside you, annexed for you, given to you and increased for you)

YOU: (Insert your name here )

I hope this blog post encouraged and even motivated you. (It certainly did that for me.)
